As you already know, the funding for the 3% pay increase that is scheduled to take effect on December 31, 2012 was approved earlier this year, so that increase will go into effect as planned. However, while the funding for the 1.5% pay increase scheduled to take effect January 1, 2012 was included in a supplemental budget request by the Patrick Administration in the Fall it has not yet been passed by the legislature.
The Massachusetts General Court will soon begin considering the bill. Once the legislature is back in January we fully expect them to take up the supplemental budget. We have not heard any concerns about funding the supplemental budget, but it is always helpful for members to lobby their Representatives and Senators to speed passage of the budget. Once the funding is approved by the legislature the 1.5% pay increase will be retro active to January, 1, 2012.
