2012 General Election Endorsements

Throughout the past year, SEIU Local 509 members have been participating in forums to determine which candidates for political office best represent our union’s goal of improving the lives of our members, their families, and their communities.

By electing candidates who share our pro-worker values, we can ensure that union members have a voice in our state and nation’s government.

President – Barack Obama
There’s only one candidate for President who is focused on maintaining funding for important Medicaid and Medicare programs, expanding access to affordable health care, and fighting for working families.

We know what the Romney administration meant for public and publicly funded employees in Massachusetts, and we don’t need to see those policies enacted on a national level.

US Senate – Elizabeth Warren
While her opponent Scott Brown has stood up and defended big corporations and Wall Street firms that crashed our economy, Elizabeth Warren has been fighting for the working families who are paying the price.

Brown had the opportunity to maintain funding for vital services in our communities, but decided instead to stand with national Republicans. It’s time for a change.
