The votes are in! Congratulations to all our newly-elected leaders. Here is the complete list of Local 509 union-wide and chapter leadership.
Join us in congratulating our newly-elected leadership team! With the votes all in, Peter MacKinnon will serve as president of our union, alongside Israel Pierre as our treasurer and Kara Goodier as our recording secretary. The proposed constitutional amendment did not pass, falling short of the 2/3 margin required to accept a change to our union’s constitution.
Local 509 takes pride in our long-held reputation as a thoroughly democratic union. All members are encouraged to participate by supporting candidates of your choice, submitting amendment proposals, nominating colleagues for leadership positions or running for office yourself. Nominations for these leadership positions were accepted on October 12 at our Local 509 Annual Meeting. During that gathering, we recommitted to growing and strengthening our union, adopting 6 key resolutions to guide our work over the next 10 years.
With this in mind, our new leadership team has an exciting term ahead of them! Through new organizing efforts, winning strong new contracts, protecting our rights at work, and fighting for policy changes that lift up the most vulnerable members of our communities, we will set a future course for our union to grow and become a stronger advocate for the communities we serve.
All Joint Executive Board officers will be sworn in at the next JEB meeting on December 10th at the Union Headquarters in Marlborough. All Chapter Board Officers will be sworn in at their next Chapter Board Meeting.
Join us again in congratulating our newly elected leadership team!
