Members Meet with Governor:

“There’s a Hole in the Bucket for Human Service Workers”

On June 8, about 80 members of the Private Sector paid a visit to Governor Patrick at the State House to request a meeting to talk about Quality Care.

On July 25, the Governor attended our chapter executive board meeting - the first time in our 48-year history that any governor has come to a Local 509 chapter meeting. He spent an entire hour with us; it is very unusual for a governor to spend that much time at a constituent group meeting.

Governor Patrick engaged in a freewheeling dialogue with us, accepting our criticism and anger respectfully, answering our questions as best he could, and explaining the position the fiscal crisis has put him in.
