Training & Career Ladder Program
The Alliance AFSCME/SEIU Local 509, in partnership with Commonwealth of Massachusetts is pleased to offer the Unit 8 & 10 Training and Career Ladder Program, a negotiated benefit offered through your collective bargaining agreement.
The program covering the period from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009 allows you to:
1. Take approved HRD or Departmental training courses, or
2. Request reimbursement for courses or seminars taken outside your Department.HRD or DEPARTMENTAL TRAININGTraining may be offered through the Human Resource Division or through your Department. Subject to supervisory approval and the operational needs of the agency, paid release time will be granted to attend these trainings. Supervisors should approve or deny training requests within three business days.
Courses range from
computer skills to time management to specific topics designed to improve your current skills and to enhance your career opportunities.

supervisory classes are available on the Local 509 website. Additional information regarding trainings is available through your Department/Agency and on the
HRD website.

REIMBURSEMENT for SEMINARS or COURSESYou may be reimbursed, upon approval, for up to $150 for work related courses or seminars taken outside your Department, including college credit courses beginning July 1, 2008. Registration costs, fees, costs of CEUs (if extra), books or supplies may be included.
Reimbursements are subject to availability of funds. Reimbursements will be made quarterly. May 31, 2009 is the deadline to submit claims for reimbursement.
