Across Massachusetts, members like you provide high-quality care and support to young children, people with mental health needs, older adults, and other vulnerable populations. This year, the vital work you do has been under threat from potential cuts and reductions in resources. In response, we’ve worked together to fight back for the communities we care about. From the picket line to the State House, we’ve made our voices heard.
Now that the Governor, House, and Senate have all proposed their FY2026 budgets, the legislature has entered the final phase: the conference committee. This committee will decide the final budget. We need to show our collective strength and demand that the conference committee fully fund the vital services you and your coworkers provide.
We’re calling for investments in:
- Department of Mental Health case managers
- Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children and Pocasset Mental Health Center
- Early education and family child care assistance
- Essential social safety net programs & Department of Transitional Assistance
- Massachusetts Commission for the Blind
- Protecting the State employee healthcare system
- Elder care services and assistance
We’re reaching out today to ask you to email your legislators NOW to support our budget priorities in conference:

In addition to these priorities in the Conference Committee, we’re asking our members to also reach out to their legislators to urge them to support supplemental budgetary funds for elder care services. This year, we’ve seen how these shortages have impacted the quality of life and wellbeing of elder care clients and their loved ones, and we’re advocating for the State Legislature to provide urgently needed supplemental budget funding!

We’ll keep you updated on other ways you can take action. Our members and the communities they serve deserve support, investment, and care!
