BCL Workers hold informational picket demanding a fair union contract!

NEW BEDFORD, Massachusetts – On Tuesday, August 18th, unionized workers at Better Community Living (BCL) will hold an informational picket to draw attention to their ongoing contract fight with management.

BCL workers provide essential care to individuals with development disabilities in the New Bedford area. They are currently at the bargaining table fighting for a fair union contract.
Workers are raising concerns over management proposals that would undermine the union’s ability to have input into work schedules. They say these changes could put workers in vulnerable positions and threaten their ability to maintain health coverage or, in some cases, their jobs.
Many BCL workers are also parents and caregivers and need meaningful input in their scheduling in order to balance work with caring for their loved ones. Workers say that having fair scheduling is essential to remaining in the workforce.
