We take great pride in the work that our stewards do. As leaders at the worksite, stewards wear many hats. We are problem solvers, educators, and communicators.
Most importantly, union stewards are organizers. Our work extends beyond enforcing our contracts and making sure our co-workers know their rights. When we organize, we build power at our workplaces and solidarity throughout our union.
On October 25, we’re hosting our Steward Assembly. Together, we’ll learn more about union history, participate in workshops, share our experiences as workers across sectors, and engage in discussions about strategies that could help shape Local 509’s work.
The assembly will be held the day before our Annual Meeting. A limited number of hotel rooms are available on a first come, first served basis for members attending both the Steward Assembly and the Annual Meeting. Preference will be given for members living > 75 miles from Natick. The deadline to request a hotel room is September 6.
Please note: if you are attending the Stewards’ Assembly on Friday and staying overnight in a union hotel room, you must attend the Annual Meeting on Saturday.
