February 9 Update: Town Hall, longevity, & more

Yesterday, hundreds of members joined us for a town hall meeting. If you missed it, don’t worry – we’ll be having these town halls on Zoom after each bargaining session. During the town hall we discussed bargaining updates and taking action in the coming weeks and months for a strong contract.

Our agencies are facing recruitment and retention issues and increasing caseloads, while the cost of living in Massachusetts continues to rise.

We know that our clients can feel the impact of these conditions and a contract with better wages is crucial. That’s why we’re calling on Governor Healey to intervene in negotiations to help secure better wage increases for workers and allow our agencies to function at their best.

It’s time to make your voice heard—take action and sign our petition now!

Additional Update: Longevity & Upgrades

Because of some recent confusion, we want to clarify when and what you should expect to see in your paycheck regarding longevity and title upgrades:

  • Longevity Differential: longevity differential pay is retroactive to 1/1/2023 (or your anniversary date in 2023 if that is when you attained 15 years of service). Expect to see longevity retro pay in the March 15th paycheck, and the differential will also be reflected from that paycheck onwards.
  • Title Upgrades: union representatives met with the Commonwealth to clarify issues stemming from multiple letters sent to members regarding upgrades. After sorting through the facts, we believe members’ pay is correct. To our knowledge, the state is using the correct wage chart, factoring in both raises, to calculate pay. If you believe your actual pay is not what it is supposed to be, contact your steward right away.
