As a Local 509 member, there are many ways for you to get involved and shape the work your union does to improve your workplace and the communities where our members live and work! Our union thrives when our members are active in shaping the future of Local 509.
We are currently accepting nominations for vacant leadership positions. Click here to view the list of current vacant seats. To nominate yourself or a member of your chapter, please submit the full name and seat you are nominating for to governance@seiu509.org.
Nominations must be submitted by Thursday, January 15 at 12 p.m.

If you are interested in running for a seat – or nominating a colleague – please follow these instructions:
- This nomination period closes on Thursday, January 15 at 12 p.m.
- Submit nominations for vacancies in writing by email to governance@seiu509.org. Please put “Nomination” in the subject line and include the full name of the member and the seat you are nominating for.
- Nominations will be accepted on a quarterly basis. Nominations do not need to be seconded, except at an annual meeting.
- If we receive more than one nomination for a seat and more than one member accepts the nomination, an election will be held.
- All officers must be members in good standing, and remain members in good standing, to be nominated for and to hold office.
