After months of difficult negotiations, SEIU 509 members have reached an agreement with the Commonwealth to prevent layoffs for Department of Mental Health case managers. Since January, our members and supporters have been relentless in their advocacy for DMH case managers and the important work that they do for communities across Massachusetts.
We’re proud that these crucial, life-saving services can continue thanks to the efforts of our bargaining team, made up of rank-and-file members who fought nonstop for their clients and coworkers. Our union’s power made this possible, and our bargaining team’s commitment to this fight forged the path to prevent significant layoffs and budget cuts.
At a time when health and human services are being threatened across our country, SEIU 509 stands strong with our members and the essential care they provide.
Our agreement with the Commonwealth is contingent upon the passage of a supplemental budget to be approved by the Legislature. We’re confident that this agreement will protect these essential services that individuals and families rely on.
