Today, Family Child Care educators delivered a petition with over 1,000 signatures demanding Governor Healey take urgent action and allocate adequate funding for child care workers.
Child care educators are struggling to keep our doors open due to skyrocketing costs, limited access to child care reimbursement vouchers, and reimbursement rates that no longer match the cost of providing this essential care. In a recent survey of 3,200 family child care educators, nearly 40% shared that they may close within the year without more funding. This could mean 1,200 providers closing and a loss of child care access for 10,000 families. Without this care, children lack the community support they need, and families lack the economic opportunities and resources that keep them afloat.
That’s why we need urgent action to stabilize family child care in Massachusetts and prevent a devastating loss in access for Commonwealth families!
