JEB passes resolution in solidarity with Somerville municipal workers in their fight for a fair contract!

Whereas the SEIU Local 509 represents nearly 20,2000 human service workers, early childhood educators and higher education professionals let it be here by know that SEIU 509 stands in solidarity with Somerville Municipal Employee Association in their fight for a fair contract. Our members live and provide services to the community.

Whereas SEIU Local 509 understands as a union that livable wages are crucial to working people.

Whereas SEIU Local 509 understands the importance of negotiation fair and timely raises that support working people.

Whereas SEIU Local 509 stands in solidarity with SMEA that not receiving COLA since 2021 is unacceptable given the rate of inflation.

Whereas SEIU 509 denounces the privatization of public services because of the City’s failure to negotiate competitive wages for its unionized work force.

Be it resolved that SEIU Local 509 stand in solidarity with the Somerville Stands Together, Carbon Free Somerville, CAAS, and SEU in demanding a fair contract now for SMEA.
