Celebrating Black History Month

Black communities have continued to lead the charge on the most critical issues of our day including voting rights, policing, public safety, racial justice and worker safety. This year, to honor that work, we’re highlighting some resources and ways to stay engaged in the fight for racial justice.

  • To spark joy, hope, optimism, and resilience among SEIU members, SEIU’s Racial Justice Center have developed a toolkit and resource list. Check out this list of resources to celebrate all month long.
  • The National African American Caucus of SEIU is committed to enhancing opportunities for education, training mentorship, leadership development and networking for SEIU members and staff of African descent. Find more information on our Massachusetts chapter here.
  • On February 19 and February 26, join SEIU National AFRAM Caucus for a Black History Month Celebration! Register here.

In 2017, the SEIU Local 509 Racial Justice Task Force came together, and in 2018, was formally established with a resolution that was adopted and passed by the Local 509 Joint Executive Board: To Win Economic Justice for Working People, We Must Win Racial Justice for All. We celebrate Black history today and every day, and are committed to the fight for justice at our worksites and in our communities.
